Victoria Beckham's Major Spice Girls Confesssion

by Caitlyn Callegari

Guys, can I be frank? I've had an issue with Spice Girl concerts ever since my mom was duped out of tickets back in '96 and I was left with only a VHS copy of Spice World to heal my emotional wounds. For 20 long years, I have been all-around distrusting of their live performances, and finally, I have been justified in my suspicions. But, honestly, not even I expected this. As it turns out, Victoria Beckham didn't sing at the Spice Girls' concerts.

OK, OK... sit down. Breathe. Let's talk this out before you burn all your Spice Girl cassette tapes and paraphernalia. (And don't even think about touching those mint condition Barbie dolls.) According to The Telegraph, at the Vogue 100: A Century of Style exhibition, Beckham said this about her microphone:

They used to turn it off and just let the others sing. I got the last laugh — and now my mic is well and truly on, finally.

If you were more fortunate than I was and were able to see the Spice Girls sing live, technically we're all in the same boat on one front: We never actually heard Posh Spice sing live.

So it can really sink in, check this out:

Yeah, it's nothing more than Ginger, Scary, Baby, and Sporty belting out a tune as Posh (likely) lip syncs along. I, too, am smiling through my tears right now.

Beckham was clearly on a roll that day, being a Spice Girls truther, because she also copped to another major illusion:

The first dress that I wore in the Spice Girls, which everybody thought was a little black Gucci dress, was actually from Miss Selfridge — it wasn't a little b[l]ack Gucci dress.

What are they going to say next? That the Spice Bus didn't really jump the gap in the Tower Bridge?! Everything we've ever known is a lie and nothing makes sense. There's only one way to remedy this and it's by taking a nap and pretending you never read what I just made you read. Sorry, I can't be of greater comfort to you all, I am hardly keeping it together myself.
