According to Marty, Leo's Best Performance Is...

by Kristie Rohwedder

Tuesday, Paramount Pictures released a short video promoting Leonardo DiCaprio’s brilliant, Golden Globe-winning performance in The Wolf of Wall Street. What's the occasion? Oh, it might just be a little thing called "Academy Awards voting." Ah, right. That old thing! Unless awards season isn't your bag, you totes know DiCaprio's portrayal of Wall Street hell-raiser Jordan Belfort earned him a Best Actor nom. He’s been nominated before, but the actor has yet to nab a golden man. Will this be his year? IDK. We'll have to wait and see.

The movie's director loves DiCaprio, the studio loves DiCaprio, and the costars love DiCaprio. And thus, “The Wolf of Wall Street: Leonardo DiCaprio Featurette” was born. (I assume that's how it was born. I could be wrong. I don't know a lot about featurette births. I missed that day in sex ed class.)

The video includes scenes from the movie, quotes plucked from various publications, and interviews about DiCaprio’s performance. Who’s in the interviews? Martin Scorsese, Jonah Hill, Rob Reiner, and Margot Robbie. All four sing DiCaprio’s praises, because duh. He was (per usual) bonkers-amazing in the movie.Hill says DiCaprio is "the best actor [he's] ever worked with," and Scorsese remarks that this is his best performance.

No one actually says “LEO CAN HAZ OSCAR PLZ," but why else would Paramount release this vid during Oscar voting time? Smells like opposite of a coincidence. I don't think I'm making too large a leap.

But hey! I don't mind the Leo love. The night of March 2, I'll be pulling for DiCaprio. If this video reminds voters just how incredible he was, then I'm all for it.
