Why Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne Are Reportedly Done

by Chloe Kent

After 33 years of marriage, three kids, and one very successful reality show, rock and roll's most iconic couple, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, are reportedly splitting up (Bustle has reached out to the Osbournes for comment, but hasn't heard back). The duo, who first met in the early 1970s when Sharon's father, Don Arden, managed Ozzy's band, Black Sabbath, "mutually agreed that Ozzy would move out of the house temporarily," according to a source at E! News. But why are Ozzy and Sharon breaking up, if the report is true? Update: On The Talk on Tuesday, Sharon confirmed that she and Ozzy are separated, but is unsure whether they will stay married.

Earlier: While original reports pinned the cause of the split on Ozzy's previous issues with alcoholism and drug abuse, E! News reports that Ozzy is currently sober, and his former issues are not the reason for the reported split. According to Yahoo, the break-up may have something to do with Ozzy allegedly having an affair with Michelle Pugh, a hairstylist to celebrities.

Yet neither of the Osbournes have publicly commented on the reasoning for their alleged split, so the truth is still unknown. In the past, Sharon, who currents co-hosts The Talk, has been vocal in airing her grievances about her marriage. In her 2013 memoir, Unbreakable , she detailed how, after Ozzy fell off the wagon on the eve of the couple's 30th wedding anniversary, the couple went through a rough patch. "I would never have imagined our anniversary would be the start of one of the worst periods in our marriage. I’d like to tell you he got me a vast bouquet and took me for a candlelit supper. But I wed Ozzy Osbourne," she wrote in the book. "I thought, ‘I can’t carry this any more. It’s what I have always done and I’m tired. I said, 'I want a divorce.'"

Yet after Ozzy began therapy and rehab, the couple chose to stay together and work through his issues. And in April 2013, after rumors swirled of Ozzy's relapse, the rocker himself took to his Facebook and wrote:

Back in 2013, Sharon also commented on the divorce rumors, with E! News reporting how the then-X Factor judge told her audience, "Everything that has been printed in the tabloids has been distorted. There's always a little seed of truth to everything that gets reported, but then it gets very distorted. The only thing that's true was the Facebook posting that my husband did on his Facebook where he said he's been using alcohol and prescription drugs for the last year and a half...and that he has been in a very dark place. That's true. It's very true."

With the new report of the couple's split, it's truly unknown what the cause might be, yet many fans are hoping that the iconic pair manages to reconcile before long.
