A Secret Wedding Could Be Next For Ryan & Eva

by Kadeen Griffiths

Move over, Beyoncé, because you're no longer the most private celebrity on the block. Unconfirmed rumor has it that Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes had their second child, allegedly named Amada Lee, and that none of us knew about it. And when I say none of us knew about it, I mean the news broke on May 9 that Gosling and Mendes had a baby on April 29 — like two weeks later. The internet hasn't failed me this hard since Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got secretly married. Of course, bringing them up makes me wonder if Gosling and Mendes are going to get married. Especially now that they have two children that they are so private about that, for some time, the world doubted that the first one even actually existed. I'm not saying that the pair need to be married to be parents, obviously, but getting married in secret sounds like something they would do.

Back in December 2015, there were rumors that Mendes and Gosling were engaged, rumors that ultimately went nowhere — or, at the very least, weren't followed by the wedding that we were expecting. (There were also rumors that Mendes gave Gosling a marriage ultimatum that would have had them walking down the aisle before Christmas. Excuse me while I laugh myself silly.) Unless it happened already and we missed it, which, again, wouldn't be out of character for this intensely private couple. The most Mendes has said about marriage in the past few years was when she joked that sweatpants are the "number one cause of divorce in America" in an interview with Extra , while Gosling's feeling on the matter of Mendes is that he's "with the person I'm supposed to be with."

From those quotes, from the silly to the serious, it seems like Gosling and Mendes are completely content with their relationship as is. They are like the Brangelina of the world, before Brangelina got married, or the Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian of the world, before Scott and Kourtney broke up. What I'm trying to say is that they are among the camp of people who don't believe that wearing rings and signing a piece of paper makes you any more likely to spend the rest of your life together as simply spending the rest of your life together does. And with a second child either born — hey, Amada Lee — or still on the way, they're not letting not being married slow down their family any. It's really beautiful.

So, in the wake of the possible birth of their second child, there can be no doubt that many people will be looking at the relationship of Gosling and Mendes and wondering, again and again, why Mendes doesn't have a ring on her finger, or why Gosling can't refer to himself legally as Mr. Mendes. But that's not a priority for this couple and, even better, they refuse to let society make them think that it should be. Honestly, if they're happy, I'm happy, and if they want to keep churning out adorable babies I will never see a picture of, well, I'm not going to complain. You do you, guys. You do you.
