JGL's Going Tarantino, But Not How You'd Expect

by Alanna Bennett

Way back in the annals of history (December of 2011), Juno and Labor Day director Jason Reitman put on a live-reading of William Goldman's The Princess Bride a the LACMA. It starred Mindy Kaling and Paul Rudd as Princess Buttercup and Westley, respectively, and I was trapped in my little college town in Northeast Ohio and couldn't go. I was enraged, but also enthralled by the idea. The reading of classic or cult-classic films with modern stars? Sounds great to me. The newest one? Superbad and This Is the End screenwriter/Seth Rogen writing partner Evan Goldberg is putting on another LACMA reading: This one's for Pulp Fiction and stars Joseph Gordon Levitt and Lizzy Caplan.

If you're in the Los Angeles area and booked this week I've got bad news for you, because the event is taking place Thursday (so, tomorrow) at the LACMA. Gordon-Levitt will take on John Travolta's giant dancing shoes in the role of hitman Vincent Vega. Caplan, who made another splash this year with Masters Of Sex, will be playing a role not as of yet disclosed, but we'd wager the original portrayer's name rhymed with "Schmuma Burman."

That all sounds well and good, but I'mma need Kaling and Rudd to co-star in a romantic comedy movie like yesterday to make up for my lack of presence at that Princess Bride thing.
