Steve Jobs' Face Is Coming to a Mailbox Near You

The Apple co-founder who built an iconic tech empire and unwittingly contributed to the demise of snail mail may soon be all over your bills and letters. The U.S. Postal Service is developing a stamp featuring Steve Jobs that will debut in 2015, according to documents obtained by the Washington Post. The Jobs stamp is still in its design phase, but we're already excited.

Each year, the Postal Service receives thousands of letters with proposals for stamp subjects, which are reviewed by the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee. The subjects are usually timely, contemporary, and educational, among other deciding factors. Jobs, who died in 2011, will be featured on a collectible stamp in a line-up with other historical and cultural figures like Elvis Presley and late-night TV host Johnny Carson.

Usually, the Postal Service keeps the stamp subjects under tight wraps, guarding the secret until they can make their big reveal. Collectible stamps in the works for 2014 will feature musicians Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, along with former NBA player Wilt Chamberlain. However, the organization's executive director for stamp services and corporate licensing, Susan McGowan, told the Washington Post that the subjects aren't set in stone, and are subject to change at any time.

Other U.S. stamp subjects in the works to bring some life to your letters: Dora the Explorer and the Peanuts gang. Previous cultural icons appearing on the post have included Dr. Seuss, I Love Lucy's Lucille Ball, The Simpsons, and Harry Potter.
