Britney Spears' BBMA Medley Was Missing A Song

Let it be known: The queen isn't just back — she never left. During Sunday's Billboard Music Awards, Britney Spears put on a performance of her greatest hits so badass, I'm not sure how the show just didn't end right after it because everyone else is going to have a seriously tough time topping it. I know we all go through periods where we just don't talk about Spears' career as much as we used to in, say, the '90s, but I'm kind of not sure how that's possible after seeing this performance. Spears is the queen of pop, and that crown will clearly forever be hers. But, after viewing the performance, I have to ask: Why didn't Spears include "... Baby One More Time" amongst the medley of hits she performed?

Though there were rumors about what Spears' performance would include (new music?! A new album?!) since, basically, the second it was announced, Spears clearly stuck to the basics with this one: Performing a setlist including "Work B*tch," "Womanizer," "I Love Rock N' Roll," "Breathe On Me," "Slave 4 U," Touch Of My Hand," and "Toxic," it was a bona fide medley of her greatest hits — an ode to her shining career as one of pop music's most important, monumental figures. Of course, her dance moves were on point too, because she's Britney Spears and that's just how she rolls.

But where was "... Baby One More Time"? As much as I loved the performance, it just felt... incomplete without Brit Brit's first hit — that was the song that got us all hooked on Spears as an artist, after all.

Though it's not clear why "... Baby One More Time" wasn't included, it's not quite shocking that it wasn't. On Thursday, Perez Hilton posted what he alleged to be Spears' set list for the BBMAs, and "... Baby One More Time" wasn't in the line-up. Though I'm sure some fans hoped it would be added last minute, it's not exactly a surprise that it wasn't included.

Though "... Baby One More Time" wasn't included, the performance was still badass, of course — and I don't know about you, but it has me totally desperate for new music from the singer. As of now, it's not clear when new music is coming, just that it is — but honestly, this performance was enough to keep me sated for at least a week. All hail the queen!
