5H Hits No. 1 On Billboard Top 40

by Kristie Rohwedder

As if the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album 7/27 wasn't awesome enough, Ally Brooke Hernandez, Normani Kordei Hamilton, Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello, and Dinah Jane Hansen have yet another reason to celebrate this week: Fifth Harmony and Ty Dolla $ign track "Work From Home" has hit No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40. This is 5H’s first No. 1 on this list and, as Billboard.com points out, this is the first time a girl group has accomplished this since “Buttons” by the Pussycat Dolls featuring Snoop Dogg claimed the top spot in 2006. And after hearing a few tracks off of the forthcoming record, I think it’s safe to predict that this 5H banger won’t be the only No. 1 off of 7/27.

"Work From Home" dropped back in February and is now the pop quintet's highest charting track to date. Before the first single off of 7/27 sledgehammered its way up the list, 5H’s reigning Top 40 darling was “Worth It” featuring Kid Ink, a 2015 single that peaked at No. 4. "Work From Home" has also reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

So, which 7/27 song could follow in the footsteps of “Work From Home” and rule the Mainstream Top 40 one day?

Maybe It'll Be "All In My Head (Flex)" Featuring Fetty Wap

The second single off of 7/27 has "summer hit" all over it. You can check out the awesome post-Billboard Music Awards performance here.

Or Maybe It’ll Be 2016 Olympics TV Spot Jam “That’s My Girl”

I wouldn't be surprised if this song did back handsprings all over the Billboard charts.

Or Maybe It’ll Be EDM Tune “The Life”

Yesssssss.

Or Maybe It'll Be "Not That Kinda Girl" Featuring Missy Elliott

…OK, so this one isn’t out yet so I don’t know what it sounds like but! If I know one thing to be true, it’s that Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott is unstoppable. 5H plus Missy Elliott? “Not That Kinda Girl” is sure to be everything.

7/27 will fiiiiiinally drop this Friday, so ready your earbuds and your dancin' shoes.
