'Dancing With The Stars' 2016 Has A Winner

Season 22 of Dancing With The Stars is arguably the most competitive season that we’ve seen in years. Ginger Zee, Nyle DiMarco, and Paige VanZant are all really formidable opponents for the Mirrorball Trophy. They are so good that it makes me feel bad about myself and the fact that I can barely walk up and down stairs gracefully. Each has improved so much week over week that I think it’s going to be really hard to choose. But, alas, America and the judges had to pick a winner of Dancing With The Stars Season 22. The spread on the three couples was a mere three points before the finale, but after another dance and a lot of voting from the American audience, ultimately, Nyle DiMarco is the winner of Dancing With The Stars Season 22. Can you believe it?

Even the professional dancers on the show had a hard time pinning down who the winner would be (Sharna Burgess said as much in a pre-taped interview during the finale), but I totally see where it came from. Not only did Nyle absolutely rock his last dance, but he also seemed to be a fan favorite from the outset. Along with partner Peta Murgatroyd, Nyle elevated his abilities every week, which is amazing on any level but especially given the fact that Nyle is completely deaf. He can't hear anything, which forced Peta to look at teaching him a different way. The way these two worked together was amazing, and it was a partnership that took them all the way to the top.

So what happens now? Well, Nyle gets that sick Mirrorball Trophy, and, of course, bragging rights, which is almost as important. Nyle is such an amazing role model not just for the deaf, but for all people. He decided that he wasn't going to let any obstacle hold him back, and he's lived his life according to that. Nyle has traveled the world. He's been a model. And now, he's the 2016 winner of Dancing With The Stars. Bravo!
