9 Celebrities Who Really Hate Donald Trump

by Andi O'Rourke

Not everyone is itching to Make America Great Again. A growing contingent of celebrities are taking a stand against the former reality television star who has somehow become the last Republican presidential nominee. Check out these nine celebrities who are against Donald Trump for president and how they've unequivocally spoken out against the GOP bully.

After winning the Washington State Republican primary, Trump walked away with all of the state's 40 delegates since none of the other candidates passing the 20 percent threshold. However, that hasn't stopped more than 450 authors from signing an open letter to the American people pleading with them to pause and really think twice about voting for Trump. In fact, many creatives and celebrities have been at the forefront of the anti-Trump movement, providing an important and necessary antidote to the mainstream media's inability to stop artificially propelling his candidacy forward.

As the primary process draws to a close, insiders will be watching who gets selected to the RNC Convention Rules Committee to attempt to divine exactly what delegate seating rules will be in play, and how it'll impact the nomination process. Capitalizing off of a chaotic convention open may be the only way for what remains of the GOP establishment to gain control of an increasingly desperate situation — aka stopping Trump from assuming presidency.

The author of A Visit From The Goon Squad and journalist was one of the more than 500 literary luminaries who have decided to leverage their status to make a political point against a potential Trump presidency. (I'd like it to be noted for posterity that every time I have to type out those two words words, I feel slightly nauseous.)

R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe put "Tiny Hands" on blast on Twitter — on bassist Mike Mills' page — for the unauthorized use of their overly cheerful, apocalyptical hit "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" during a campaign rally in September.

"I’m completely in opposition to everything Trump says,” the artist told TIME earlier this month. T.I. also made this analogy about the presumptive GOP nominee: “If I was to say, ‘If somebody who doesn’t look like us or agree with us shows up at my concert, and you beat him up and get locked up, I’ll pay for your legal fees,’ that’d be like a mob boss, you know?”

Bette Midler

Perennially fabulous show woman Bette Midler retweeted a quote from Joseph Heller's Catch-22 to illustrate just how she feels about Trump's campaign thus far, and hasn't shied away from being critical of his supporters, either.

Louis C.K.

Finding the prospect of Trump in the White House to be a joke that has outlasted its shelf-life, comedian, writer, and actor Louis C.K. wrote an extended postscript as part of a regular newsletter to his fans imploring them to stop voting for the New York personality:

Please stop it with voting for Trump. It was funny for a little while. But the guy is Hitler. And by that I mean that we are being Germany in the ’30s. Do you think they saw the sh*t coming? Hitler was just some hilarious and refreshing dude with a weird comb over who would say anything at all.

Salma Hayek

The Mexican-American actress minces no words when it comes to the presumptive GOP nominee and Hayek has spoken out against Trump in explicit ways. But she manages to remain poised and polished, even when openly opposing The Donald: “Everybody’s entitled to have uninformed opinions. Everybody’s entitled to be dumb.”

Sarah Silverman

Silverman has been an outspoken surrogate for Bernie Sanders' campaign, and hasn't been afraid to use her platform to speak a little truth to power. In one of her social media missives against Trump, Silverman said: "DRUMPF is NEGGING us and we've fallen for it - we're obsessed w this candidate we had no intention of ever acknowledging."

Lady Gaga

When performance artist Lady Gaga was asked whether or not she was supporting Trump, she just laughed. Enough said.

These nine represent just a selection of the entertainers and personalities who have spoken out against a Trump presidency. The only way to see whether or not it will have an effect is to wait until the results of the general election have been certified in November, but these celebrities have sure been trying to prevent Trump from continuing to inch toward the White House.
