The Best of Hair and Makeup from Milan Fashion Week Fall 2014

The past six days of the slightly-abbreviated Fall 2014 Milan Fashion Week certainly came and went. Often the flashiest (and most outlandishly luxe) of the international fashion weeks, the hair and beauty off the Italian runways promises never to disappoint. Designers like Gucci, Armani, and Versace aren't known for their inclination toward the "natural look," and this season's showings were no different. Drama! Darkness! Weird haircuts! Milan has it all.

Gucci

The hair and makeup at Gucci this season drew heavy inspiration from the ’60s, with long, piece-y hair swept into deep side parts and liner and lashes fit for an Anna Karina film. Makeup artist Pat McGrath created feline eyes with a range of taupe shadows and a set of falsies on the bottom and offset the come-hither feature with pale pink lips.

Fendi

Fendi eschewed flowing hair and girlish trappings in favor of low, slicked-back ponytails and super-exaggerated cheekbones. Clean, groomed brows and glossy neutral lips ensured that the focus remained on the contoured, smoked-out eyes.

Emporio Armani

The choppy, close-cropped black hair and dramatic black-and-white eyes at Armani were right in tune with the collection’s luxe furs and loose-fitting, boyish separates.

Versace

The long, glossy blunt cuts at Versace gave the entire look a high-maintenance quality, but the face was comparatively simple, with natural brows, glossy lips, and loads of mascara.

Roberto Cavalli

Cavalli spared no drama for this Black Swan-esque look, which combined pretty slicked-back ballerina buns with thick, winged-out black shadow and liner and rosy cheeks.
