Photos & Video Of UCLA Lockdown Are Chilling

On Wednesday, one day before National Gun Violence Awareness Day, a sudden shooting at UCLA left the state shocked and the campus on lockdown. A spokesperson for UCLA said that there were two shooting victims, according to the Associated Press, and that the shooter hadn't yet been found. Minutes after the news was first reported, videos and photos from the scene at UCLA revealed authorities rushing to the UCLA campus and students sheltering in place. The conditions of the two individuals who are injured are currently unknown, and the gunman is being described as an "active shooter." Update: The LAPD has confirmed the incident was a murder-suicide.

The campus was officially declared on lockdown at 10 a.m. after reports of a shooting reached authorities.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives immediately began making their way to the campus, along with a bomb squad, Mic reported. The city of Los Angeles is under tactical alert, according to the LAPD, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Locals are advised to avoid the area.
