Who Plays Draco Malfoy In 'Cursed Child'?

The Harry Potter fandom collectively screamed this morning when Pottermore released the first images of Draco Malfoy and his son, Scorpius, from the forthcoming play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I and II. Fans who grew up watching the movies may not be quite familiar with the actor who has slipped into the role formerly played by Tom Felton. So, who's playing Draco Malfoy in Cursed Child ?

Alex Price will be playing Draco Malfoy in the play, and he has a pretty impressive track record on stage and on television. His previous theatre credits include roles in 3 Winters for the National Theatre and Birdland for the Royal Court Theatre, among others, and his television roles include Penny Dreadful, Doctor Who, Merlin, and Being Human.

"The world outside has been brilliantly marshaled and been kept away from us by our producers," says Price. "It's only slowly starting to rear its head now and it's intimidating, a little scary, but also very exciting because Jack [Thorne] is such a brilliant writer, and he's taken the story into a great place 19 years, particularly for Draco."

If you recall, the last time we saw Draco and Scorpius, they were standing on Platform 9 3/4, waiting for the Hogwarts Express and saying their goodbyes along with Astoria Greengrass, Draco's wife and Scorpius's mother. J.K. Rowling previously revealed that Draco gave his son a very different upbringing than the one he himself experienced. In fact, she says that Draco and Astoria did not raise their son to view Muggles and non-pureblooded Wizards as inferior, which should prove very interesting when Scorpius makes his way to Hogwarts and (hopefully) befriends Rose Weasley and Albus Severus Potter.

Though we have some theories about Scorpius role in Cursed Child, we don't quite yet know how important Draco will be in the play. We have high hopes, however, that he and Harry, Ron, and Hermione have put past tensions behind them and become — dare I say it? — friends.
