Meet The Latest Sbux Secret Menu Sensation

by Megan Grant

UPDATE: As of April 10, 2017, Pink Drink has officially joined the Starbucks menu. It brings together the flavors of Strawberry Acai Refreshers, passion fruit, acai, and coconutmilk, topped with a scoop of strawberries.

EARLIER: This week has felt a little like the ultimate gift-giving holiday for iced drink enthusiasts: First, Starbucks announced the addition of the Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew and the Nitro Cold Brew; and today, we've discovered a delightful new drink on the Starbucks secret menu: "Pink Drink." The drink is simply made — all you have to do is order Starbucks' Strawberry Acai Refresher (which has just a dash of caffeine from green coffee extract) made with coconut milk instead of water, which results in a smooth, creamy treat with actual chunks of strawberry in it (or even blackberries, if that's your jam). Images of the delightfully pink beverage are already taking over social media, and with good reason: It's beautiful.

Like all "secret menus," anything purported to be on the Starbucks secret menu isn't an official Starbucks drink; however, thanks to the coffee house's almost endless array of customizations, pretty much anything is possible if you put your mind to it — including Pink Drink. Additionally, Pink Drink doesn't appear to hail from the Starbucks Secret Menu website, although as this site notes in their post about the trend, they've got something similar in their archives: Raspberry Milk Tea.

Regardless as to its origins, though, Pink Drink is the perfect alternative if you're looking for a little break from coffee (even though some of us need coffee like we need air, myself included); indeed, not only is it a tastebud-satisfying thirst-quencher, it's also got some added health benefits: Coconut milk contains tons of vitamins and minerals. And I can tell you right now: As I sit here drinking boring regular water infused with strawberries made fresh from my new fruit infusion pitcher... it's not bad, but the Pink Drink sounds oh-so-irresistible. And look how pretty it is!

Take a look at these pictures and try to tell me your mouth isn't watering. Seriously — can you think of anything better to drink as the temperatures start to climb? No. The answer is definitely no.

Some people are comparing the Pink Drink to a lighter version of strawberry milk, which sounds absolutely delicious, while others liken it to an Asian drink called Calpico. Regardless as to what it actually tastes like, though, one thing's for sure: It photographs beautifully.

Kudos to the crafty barista or customer who dreamed up this winner. Between the coffee giant's new cold brews, and now the Pink Drink, summer is looking a whole lot tastier. Is it time for a Starbucks run yet?
