Zac Efron Just Went Platinum Blonde

by Eliza Florendo

Unless you live under a rock, you know that Zac Efron has a strong, devoted fanbase. Maybe it's his acting, or maybe it's his arms, but most likely, it's his hair, especially now that Zac Efron went platinum blonde, which we discovered thanks to his Instagram on Thursday evening.

I'm pretty sure the last time we saw Efron as a blonde was on Summerland, when my adolescent self had a major crush on him. Call it my sexual awakening via television? That damn gap tooth totally got me! But as he matured into Troy from High School Musical (OK, maybe not matured, but at least grew up a little), he went with the dark brown hair, and would continue this (very good) look into 17 Again, That Awkward Moment, Neighbors, and most importantly, Baywatch, where his photos gave us a very, very nice look at his abs.

Looks like he's going back to his original teenage looks, though. Efron posted a photo showing off his bleached tips and dark brown roots on Instagram with the sunglass emoji as the caption on Thursday night. And his fans are freaking out like crazy, with comments like, "his hair I'm crying," and "hair looks so good." Some comments, though, aren't so nice. Check it out.

Love it or hate it, you can't deny that's a pretty precious photo. Feeling his burgundy tee, black pants, and sunnies look, too. That's the simple Efron I love.

In case you forgot what he used to look like, the brunette definitely felt a little older and more classic.

He had a few lighter pieces in his hair here, but he definitely didn't go full platinum just yet.

See this? Dark brown.

A little tousle never hurt anybody.

Looks like Twitter's freaking out, too.

I gotta say, I'm feeling this change on Efron. Just goes to show you — just because you've stuck with the same look for years, doesn't mean you can't change it up! Perhaps he's taking a style note from Justin Bieber? I'm not mad about it.
