14 Ways To Eat Cheese On National Cheese Day

by Chrissa Hardy

Oh, you thought Christmas and Halloween were the best holidays of the year? Nope, the best holiday is National Cheese Day, observed on June 4, and you're going to need some cheese recipes to celebrate. I mean, it's a day honoring cheese. What more do you need? This is a day in which cheese is recognized as more than just an indulgent topping, and every meal can be jam-packed with cheesy goodness. You get to eat like a kid again, if only for this one day. You might end up with a killer cheese hangover the following day, but so what? The joy you will experience going all out with cheese will be totally worth it. You only live once, and National Cheese Day must not be skipped.

So what is the proper way to celebrate? Eat cheese, bb, ALL. DARN. DAY. Bust out as many cheese puns as you possibly can in between bites. Make dishes with multiple kinds of cheese, and layer them together with other yummy ingredients mixed in. Save the balanced meals and responsible adulting for June 5. Today is all about that cheese.

Here are 14 cheesy recipes that are perfect for celebrating National Cheese Day.

1. Baked Cream Cheese Spaghetti

Just when you thought the classic plate of spaghetti couldn't get any better, Damn Delicious goes and adds cream cheese to it. It's a cheesy twist that makes this comfort food so much comfier.

2. Garlic Goat Cheese Mashed Potatoes

I'm not sure why mashed potatoes are typically served as a side dish, because they certainly deserve their own plate. And these roasted garlic goat cheese mashed potatoes from How Sweet It Is are no exception.

3. Sloppy Joe Mac and Cheese

Remember when you were a kid and would devour Sloppy Joes and realize half of it was still on your face? Wasn't that the best? It was like a second serving. And Taste and Tell has created a mac and cheese version, so yeah, second servings will most def turn into thirds... and fourths.

4. Chili Cheese Dogs

Chili dogs are wonderful hot messes that always taste amazing. But Joy the Baker went ahead and melted cheese on top and Fritos on the side and just completely stole my food-loving heart. You won't look cute eating them, but who cares? You won't be able to get enough.

5. Ham and Cheese Scones

I typically go for the sweeter, dessert-like scones, but after trying these from Damn Delicious, I don't think I could ever go back. Cheesy scones are the best scones. Case closed.

6. Cheesy Pull Apart Bread

It's a loaf of soft bread layered in gooey cheese with garlic and scallions. Crepes of Wrath knows how to soothe your soul in one dish. That's for sure.

7. Cheesy Pepperoni Bites

Yes, they'd be perfect for game day, but also... every day. These cheesy pizza bites from Brown Eyed Baker are the perfect solution to enjoying pizza without the messiness pizza typically leads to.

8. Easy Beer Mac and Cheese

When you can combine mac and cheese and your favorite adult beverage into a perfect meal, how can you go wrong? How Sweet It Is kills two birds with one delish, cheese-covered stone with this one.

9. Crispy Cheesy Quinoa Bites

Here's a fun way to eat all the cheese: Add quinoa. It's a healthy grain, and therefore makes this recipe from A Pretty Life in the Suburbs a healthier option than if they were made with bread, rice, or noodles. Score!

10. Cheesy Garlic Bombs

These cheesy garlic bombs from Damn Delicious are so perfectly named, it's ridic. They are buttery, mini garlic bread bites with mozzarella cheese that explodes in your mouth with each bite. There's no problem in the world these cheesy bites can't fix. I'm sure of it.

11. Cheesy Pretzel Chicken Pops

Everything is just more fun to eat when it's on a stick. A Spicy Perspective created this cheesy chicken pretzel treat with even more delicious honey mustard sauce for dipping. You're welcome.

12. Extra Cheesy Tortellini Bake

Tortellini bakes are great, sure, but add an "extra" next to "cheesy" in the name and I'll be drooling over whatever it is. But this dish from Averie Cooks is absolutely wonderful. No joke.

13. Grilled Cheese Roll-Ups

You only need three ingredients for this flavorful food gem from Damn Delicious, and they can be served with soup or dip as an appetizer, or a full meal. If any recipe deserved a standing ovation, it'd be this one.

14. Bacon Beer Cheese Dip

I can think of no better way to celebrate the Holy Day of Cheese than with bacon, beer, and cheese all whipped together into a dip you can dollop on chips or spread on bread. Amen.
