Muhammad Ali's Last Appearance Was For A Cause

Muhammad Ali died at the age of 74, but he was a fighter up until the very end. The boxer and philanthropist suffered from Parkinson's Disease for quite some time, and Ali's last public appearance before his death was influential in more way than one.

It's no secret that "The Greatest" was involved in charitable work during his life, and so it is only fitting that his very last appearance was related to an important cause. Ali attended Celebrity Fight Night — a black-tie gala in honor of the late star that raises money for the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute. Over the event's 22-year history, the celebrity-filled occasion has raised $118 million, according to Celebrity Fight Night's website.

USA Today reports that he was busy with appearances even during his final months, and this past April was no different. The late fighter attended the event to watch celebrities perform and raise money for the cause, and paused for a few photos with fellow guests like Carrie Underwood. He's attended the event every year since he was made the honorary guest in 1997, making his last-ever appearance all the more meaningful. Although he didn't walk the red carpet with the other A-listers, Ali did take the time to snap a few photos backstage.

The sports legend will be greatly missed by many.
