Cleaning Jelly Shoes Is Easier Than You May Think

Time to bust out those jelly sandals from the back of your closet and give them a good clean, because summer is here! It seems these little see-through sandals are the one thing that will never go out of style. It turns out that you don't have to keep buying a different pair each year either. How do you clean jelly sandals? All you need are a few household items to make them good as new.

There's nothing that I love more than old trends becoming new again. Whether you're looking to spruce up an old pair of shoes or keep new ones from wear and tear, half of that process means finding the right product to clean them with. Thankfully, you probably already have the key to making your jellies look fresh out of the box again.

If you have warm water, tooth paste, and a tooth brush, then you're more than halfway there already. Plus you can use the same seven techniques for cleaning some of your other summer shoes as well. So go get those old school shoes, my friend, because they're about to look like you just took them home from the store.

1. Shower Gel

Nivea Cream Oil Body Wash, $6, Walgreens

If the problem is just dirt or dried grass, then shower gel will work perfectly. I can personally attest to using this technique.

2. Baking Soda

Arm & Hammer Baking Soda, $4, Jet

For more sunken in, discoloring stains, try baking soda and a little bit of water. This tip also works for cleaning Converse.

3. Eraser

Pentel Hi-Polymer Non-Abrasive Eraser (3-pack), $1, Jet

Believe it or not, some bloggers suggest using an eraser to clean jelly sandals. Because of the smooth texture of the sandal, this could be the perfect fix.

4. Laundry Detergent

Detergent is another great household product to try. Just make sure you don't go with bleach, which could eat away at the shoe, according to How To Clean Stuff.

5. Toothbrush

Grab everything that you need for your morning tooth-brushing and get to scrubbing!

6. Magic Eraser

This is my shoe-cleaning item of choice. You'd be surprised by what these little white sponges can do.

7. Apple Cider Vinegar

Bragg Organic Vinegar, $6, Walmart

If all else fails, try using this wonder product. Not only will it make your shoes shine, but it will eliminate any nasty odor it might have.
