People Need To Give Miss California USA A Break

by Marenah Dobin

I don't know about you, but my heart really sank for Miss California USA, Nadia Mejia, during the Miss USA 2016 pageant on Sunday night. Mejia was asked a very tough question during the Q&A portion of the pageant, and she immediately froze up before talking. She then tried to gather herself throughout and never really got her composure back. Now, viewers are really giving her a hard time on Twitter.

Majie was asked, "One of the biggest challenges facing the United States is social and economic inequality. How do we narrow the gap between the rich and the poor?" That is a pretty lofty question to ask.

Of course, Miss California USA got nervous and hesitated. It does not mean that she isn't smart by any means, as many Twitter users are implying. Haven't we all hesitated in an intimidating situation? People need to give her a break. It was a tough question and she did what she could to get herself together and ended up making some valid points, but people were so stuck on her hesitant delivery and they really butchered her online.

This could have happened to anyone. She just got nervous. Check out the big moment for yourself below:
