John Legend Defends Himself Against Hillary Haters

There's no doubt that politics can be controversial, especially when a famous face voices their support for one presidential candidate over another. For example, John Legend defended his support of Hillary Clinton on Twitter Sunday, because there are just some tweeters who can't keep their comments to themselves. Are people allowed to express their opinions? Absolutely, but when you get into the territory of name-calling and throwing jabs at someone you don't even know personally, well, then you're taking it too far. Like his wife Chrissy Teigen, the Oscar-winning singer isn't one to hold back, so you can imagine that he stood up for himself like the badass he is. Basically, other people's hate is so not going to hurt John freaking Legend.

On May 23, someone tweeted the 37-year-old artist, "I see you are performing at a Hillary Clinton concert. Q: Why Hillary over Bernie. Super curious!!" On the same day, he answered, "Hillary has already won the nomination. I love Bernie, but it's time for Hillary over Trump now."

Well, that didn't sit well with one Twitter user, who replied on June 5 to Legend's tweet, "i hate when ignorant artists with limited to no education act like they know what's up. Research Hillary." Here's where Legend defended himself beautifully: "I think you need to research me before calling me an ignorant artist."

By the way, Legend graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania (an Ivy League school) in 1999 with a degree in English concentrating in African American Literature and Culture. Yeah, I think he's pretty educated.

The "All of Me" singer has no time for the ignorance of others, especially when it comes to the electing the next POTUS. Legend has been very vocal during the 2016 presidential election, so it's no surprise he's once again standing up for his beliefs.

You may recall that in March, he made headlines for calling Donald Trump a "racist" on Twitter. In a reply to Trump's son, Donald Trump, Jr., about Trump protesters and supporters in Chicago, Legend wrote, "I think they were protesting your racist father. This isn't complicated." Their so-called feud went back and forth for a bit, as you can read below. CNN then picked up the their tweets for a story, to which Legend commented on Twitter, "This is not controversial. This is not news. The sky is blue."

No matter the issue, cause, judgment, controversy, or politics, Legend is going to let his voice be heard, and won't allow anyone to silence him. He stands up for what he believes in, and it sure looks like he isn't going to stop doing that anytime soon.
