Jake Gyllenhaal's 'Enemy' Gets New, NSFW Trailer

by Anna Klassen

This years strangest micro movie trend is none other than people who look like other people, aka — doppelgängers. And one of the most anticipated look-a-like films of 2014 just got a new spot: Jake Gyllenhaal's Enemy just got a new trailer that's very sexy and very NSFW. The trailer features split-second shots of Gyllenhaal, a gorgeous and naked blonde (Inglorious Bastards' Mélanie Laurent), sprawling city landscapes and... spiders.

The film is based off the novel by Jose Saramago, and follows a depressed teacher (Gyllenhaal) who becomes increasing paranoid, thinking he's found his exact human double, and goes crazy trying to figure out who his doppelgänger is. The trailer presents a haunting and internal look at what his journey into insanity looks like, stimulating both the audience's sense of adventure and our most primal senses.

We last saw Gyllenhaal in a similarly twitchy role — that of Detective Loki in Prisoners, where he played opposite Hugh Jackman as a policeman hired to find two missing girls. This trailer is reminiscent of Prisoners' high-intensity suspense, but offers a more existential point of view.

"Enemy" will hit theatres March 14th. Watch the NSFW trailer below:
