Kit Harington Is Going Over To The Dark Side

by S. Atkinson

Forget the ever-principled leader of the Night's Watch, Jon Snow, because Kit Harington's going over to the dark side with his next role — which is in a video game, not a movie. In the upcoming first-person game Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare , Kit Harington will play "the embodiment of the enemy, the Settlement Defense Front," according to the game's narrative director Taylor Kurosaki.

There had already been whispers this week about Harington potentially starring thanks to a video Mashable published showing the Game of Thrones hero being wheeled into a motion capture rig – something they smartly picked up was probably connected to Call of Duty when comparing it to photos of "a similar mocap rig" from 2015 "when ex-NFL superstar Marshawn Lynch was featured in an ESPN the Magazine cover story. The angle? His role in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3."

Taylor Kurosaki seemed ecstatic that Kit Harington was joining the cast, making an awfully complimentary statement announcing the new addition: "Kit is an amazing talent, and the consummate pro. Our story is about an epic showdown of opposing forces, and Kit immersed himself into the role and truly became the embodiment of the enemy, the Settlement Defense Front. We can't wait for fans to see Kit play an entirely different kind of character."

Harington's character sounds pretty terrifying: the Settlement Defense Front are a radical organization who are all set to destroy the earth. If you want to be properly chilled to your core, check out the teaser trailer introducing them:

Harington's just the latest in a list of big name talent associated with the upcoming game. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director Guy Ritchie will also be on hand to help create Harington's character. However, perhaps this is a smidgen less surprising than Jon-Snow-gone-bad since Ritchie previously worked on Surprise, a live action trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

Now, I'm not much of a video game lady — and when I am, I prefer to go for more whimsical RPG than anything as hardcore as Call of Duty. But getting the chance to take on Jon Snow on the battlefield might just change my mind on this one. Can I defeat one of the most seasoned warriors to ever take the small screen? Probably, if I borrow my neighbor's game console for long enough.
