The 'Hamilton' Cast Has Arrived At The Tonys

by Toria Sheffield

The Tony Awards serve as a moment for the unsung heroes of acting — stage actors — to finally get their due and wow us on the red carpet. And the cast of this year's smash hit Hamilton definitely delivered at the 2016 Tonys.

For anyone who doesn't know (AKA anyone who may have been living under a rock the last few months), Hamilton was indisputably the biggest Broadway hit of the year. It's already won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, and the show's star and creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his work.

Not to mention the show has been nominated for 16 Tonys at tonight's event (no, that wasn't a typo. 16), including Best Original Score and Best Musical. The cast routinely performs for sold out audiences and there doesn't seem to be an end in site (now if they could just do something about the exorbitant ticket prices. Just sayin.')

The cast is scheduled to perform an original number from the show tonight, and needless to say, I can't wait. Plus, if their red carpet style is any indication of how well they do tonight, I think it's safe to say they'll be bringing the house down. Take a look for yourself!

Philippa Soo, absolutely slaying.
