This Orlando Victim Will Be Dearly Missed

Update: In a press conference Monday morning, Orlando police confirmed that 49 people had been killed and 53 injured early Sunday morning at Orlando's Pulse gay nightclub in the deadliest mass shooting in recent U.S. history.

Earlier: We are all undoubtedly heartbroken over the horrendous event that occurred at Pulse, the gay nightclub in Orlando that was subject to a massacre on Sunday morning. As we try to comprehend the scope of the tragedy, we also should take the time to get to know the victims of the awful attack, now that some of their names have been released. Tragically, 50 people were murdered and over 50 were injured, and one of those names was that of Stanley Almodovar III, a young pharmacist who lived in Cleremont, Florida, according to CBS News.

According to his Facebook, Almodovar worked for two companies as a pharmacist, both Avella Specialty Pharmacy and Covance. He had been working as a pharmacist for six years, starting in 2012, and worked at both Walgreens and Target before he started his new positions in 2015. It's horrible to hear of him, as well as the other Orlando victims, having their lives cut short in such a senseless, horrific way.

Hearing about Almodovar and the other victims, we should take time to be grateful for our own lives, and share the love we have with our friends and family. It's so easy to think that nothing like the Orlando attack could ever happen to us, but times of tragedy make you reconsider it all. Seeing Almodovar's face, and picturing the heartbreak of his family and friends, is upsetting, and it's a reminder of how horribly easy it can be for senseless violence to occur.

Almodovar and all of the other victims of the shooting should not be dead, but living their lives and celebrating their pride with their friends. It's heartbreaking to know that so many innocent people lost their lives on Sunday morning, in an act of violence that should never have been allowed to happen.

Everyone's thoughts are with Almodovar's friends and family at this time, as well as with those of the other victims. You can help the victims of Orlando and their families by donating blood, money, and spreading love on social media.
