Fifth Harmony Honors Christina Grimmie

by Ashani Jodha

In the wake of Christina Grimmie's tragic passing, musicians and fans across the globe are mourning the life of the 22-year-old singer. Following her concert in Orlando, Florida, on Friday, June 10, Grimmie was shot and killed while signing autographs alongside the band Before You Exit. Grimmie rose to fame when she brought her vivacious energy and talent to the world as a Season 6 finalist on The Voice in 2014. It's no surprise then, that after the heartbreaking news of Grimmie's death reached the ears of fellow reality competition stars, Fifth Harmony, they powerfully dedicated a moment of silence in Grimmie's honor during a show of their own at the WBLI Summer Jam in New York on Saturday night.

"Such a beautiful soul, such a beautiful talent," Fifth Harmony member Normani Kordei said leading their emotional tribute. “I remember the first time we met her, she was nothing but nice to us. So humble. We love you, and we are praying for your family, and we know you are smiling down from above. Let’s all remember her: Christina Grimmie,” Kordei said, as the group then bowed their heads to a myriad of lit phones and silence throughout the entire crowd at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater.

Before their touching memoriam to Grimmie, the five-girl band used their social media voice on Twitter Saturday morning in an attempt to comprehend the senseless loss of their fellow singer, express their grief, and remember her immense talents:

Each member of the group also shared their own private dedications to the slain singer:

Grimmie's rising career and vibrant personality has truly struck a chord with musicians who knew the singer. Her unwavering faith and talent will always be a part of the music industry, and it's clear the "With Love" artist leaves behind a beautiful legacy.
