Gretchen Talks Proposal In 'RHOC: Uncensored'

by Kristie Rohwedder

Is there a box of blank greeting cards in your desk right now? Did you buy that box of blank greeting cards at Target years ago because you convinced yourself you would start sending your friends and family "just because" notes? Has that box of blank greeting cards been wasting away in your desk ever since? If so, a) I'm right there with you, and b) we might just have an excuse to break out the old box o' cards today: On Monday evening, The Real Housewives of Orange County Uncensored will air. And based on the excerpt that E! Online shared before the hour-long special hits the small screen, I will most certainly want to write Bravo a thank you note. The clip is a quick, albeit riveting trip down Coto de Caza Memory Lane in which Andy Cohen and Tamra Judge discuss whether ex-Real Housewife Gretchen Rossi’s proposal to Slade Smiley was a last-ditch attempt to secure her spot in the cast, or if the cameras had absolutely nothing do with it.

As Rossi's purse storyline began to wane in Season 8, Judge remembers telling her then-costar she was “not doing anything," which way harsh, Tam-Tam/awesome producering, Tam-Tam.

“‘You've got nothing going on with your life. You have no kids, you're not married,'" Judge continues, "and lo and behold she came up with this big plan to propose to Slade.”

It’s as the old showbiz saying goes: Out with the handbag purchase orders, in with the fiancé! So, was the Rossi and Smiley engagement, as Cohen puts it, “all tied into the show”?

“Absolutely 100% no," Rossi insists, her eyes welling up with tears. "I wasn’t going to do something just for TV. I wasn’t going to do something just to make money.”

AND THAT'S WHERE THE CLIP CUTS OFF. Wow. What a cliffhanger. I gotta hear more. I gotta see more. I gotta know what Cohen thinks about that. I gotta remember to set my DVR for tonight's ep.
