How To Celebrate Pride In Seattle

by Dacy Knight

Pride Month is in full swing, and if you're lucky enough to live in Seattle, you have plenty of ways to celebrate all of June. In addition to hosting PrideFest, the largest free Pride festival in North America, the Emerald City boasts a month-long lineup of exciting and diverse events for everyone. Culminating with the Seattle Pride Parade and 10th annual PrideFest on June 26, Seattle's Pride Month features everything from street fairs to special film features to comedy specials to Pride parties.

Seattle kicked off its Pride Month festivities with a celebration of LGBTQ arts, performance, and culture in Volunteer Park on June 11. The event, which used to be the Pride Picnic, has been rebranded as a kid and adult event, where guests enjoyed vintage fair lawn games, curated artist booths, local food trucks, a beer garden, and live performances from Seattle artists. Next up is the Twist of Pride Film Festival, launching with Ziggy Stardust and running through June 19. Over the next couple of weeks, local entertainment venues like Theatresports Comedy Improv, The Rendezvous, and Chop Suey will also be hosting special Pride nights and performances. So if you're a Seattlelite, get out your calendar and read on to see some of the many ways you can be celebrating Pride all month long.
