'Adventures In Babysitting' Is Easy To Find Online

Need proof that everything old really is new again? Disney Channel has made a remake of the 1987 film Adventures In Babysitting, and I am pretty excited to see it all dolled up for the new millennium. It’s set to premiere on TV on Friday, June 24 at 8 p.m., but how can you stream Adventures In Babysitting if you don’t have the Disney Channel or a television? Well, I can help with that.

But in case you’re too young to remember the original Adventures In Babysitting, let me catch you up. It starred Elisabeth Shue, Anthony Rapp, Maia Brewton, and Keith Coogan, and it told the story of Chris Parker, a babysitter whose night takes a serious turn when her friend gets stuck at the bus station. Chris takes her charges with her to pick her friend, Brenda, up, and things get weirder and weirder. Running around Chicago, they get carjacked, sing at a blues club, go to the hospital, visit a frat house, and more. I have to say, none of my babysitting gigs were ever that stressful, and for that I am eternally grateful.

In the new Adventures In Babysitting — which is Disney Channel's 100th original movie, if you can believe that — Serena Carpenter plays Jenny, a babysitter with the best reputation in the neighborhood. When Lola, a novice babysitter, drops Jenny’s name to get a job, Jenny confronts her, they accidentally switch phones, and hilarity ensues. Take a look at the trailer below.

So how do you see Adventures In Babysitting if you don't have a television? The Disney Channel website is actually streaming the movie before the premiere date (as in right now) if you have a cable login. According to TVLine, Adventures In Babysitting is currently available on VOD, too! If you want to enjoy the movie in real time, you can also watch television live via the Disney Channel site with the same login.

If you miss out on that and you're still dying to see Adventures In Babysitting or you just really want to rewatch the film, it's available on DVD starting Tuesday, June 28, 2016. You can also currently purchase an iTunes season pass to Adventures in Babysitting for $9.99, which already includes footage from the set, a music video, and the first 10 minutes of the movie. Once the movie premieres, it will likely be added to the season pass as well. Disney Channel has basically taken every avenue — from early VOD to late DVD releases — to make sure that every man, woman, and child in America can watch its 100th original movie, and for that, I am very happy.

Normally, I get annoyed when Hollywood insists on remaking movies that don't need to be made again, but in the case of Adventures In Babysitting, I'm pretty thrilled. Have you ever watched an older movie and said, "Man, this problem would be solved if someone had a cell phone"? That's true in the case of the original Adventures In Babysitting, so I'm eager to see the technology trouble that makes the story plausible and everything else that will bring this '80s classic into 2016.
