Jamie Foxx & Katie Holmes Met Through Her Ex?

by Daniela Cabrera

If you follow celebrity relationship gossip, you are probably familiar with the persistent rumor that Jamie Foxx and Katie Holmes have been dating for a few years now. There has never been any concrete evidence of anything romantic actually happening, although it seems to have been given new life by a friend of Foxx's, former Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Claudia Jordan. Random, I know. Jordan seemed to confirm the relationship on Tuesday, but the next day she clarified that she "misspoke." Even if Foxx and Holmes aren't dating (it's hard to know what to think at this point), these two have definitely crossed paths before and have some sort of friendship, so how did Foxx and Holmes meet?

It turns out, they probably met her ex-husband Tom Cruise, which is only just a tiny bit awkward. OK, maybe a lot awkward.

To refresh your memory, Foxx and Cruise co-starred in 2004's Collateral, before Cruise even began dating Holmes. While they were promoting the film, Cruise and Foxx seemed friendly enough and had some funny interactions in the public eye, particularly during the 2004 MTV Movie Awards.

The first time that Holmes was pictured with Foxx was just a few months after the birth of her daughter with Cruise, Suri, and a few months before their wedding in Italy on November 18, 2006. Cruise, Foxx, and Holmes seemingly bumped into each other at a Minnesota Vikings versus Washington Redskins game, where they posed together, so I assume that they were either introduced here or already friendly.

For the next few years, Holmes and Cruise were married until they announced their divorce in 2012. In a strange turn of events, Extra actually asked Foxx his thoughts on his "good friends" divorce, and he had very positive and supportive things to say about both Cruise and Holmes, so it sounds like he was friends with both of them.

The next time Foxx and Holmes were spotted was when the dating rumors took off full force. They were photographed dancing together on the stage at the 4th Annual Apollo in the Hamptons Benefit in August 2013. I do have to say, they look like they're at least pretty good friends.

And in March 2015, a grainy photo of the two seemingly holding hands appeared. The rumor mill was in full gear, but the pair continued to either deny the rumors.

Welp, whatever the current status of their relationship really is, they were probably introduced and got to know each other through Holmes' ex-husband. Foxx and Holmes clearly haven't had an issue with having a friendship and seeing each other throughout these years, so I don't think it's going to be an issue for them in the future.
