30 Pride Photos From Around The Country Show Love

by Morgan Brinlee

It's bright, it's beautiful, it's bold, it's Pride. On the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court's historic marriage equality ruling millions took to streets across the nation for annual celebrations of gay pride this weekend. From New York City to San Francisco, cities across the country held parades and street festivals to honor the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, and queer community and demonstrate the true power of love. These photos from Pride events around the United States prove equality is beautiful.

In many cities, however, the death of 49 people in a deadly mass shooting at a popular gay nightclub in Orlando roughly two weeks ago gave this year's festivities a more somber tone compared to the jovial celebrations seen in 2015. While many cities responded to the Orlando massacre by increasing security measures and expanding police presence around their own Pride events, revelers appeared largely undeterred. They turned up by the thousands in cities across the country to show their pride and support for the LGBTQ community.

Pride parades were held Sunday in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, Oklahoma City, San Francisco, Seattle, and St. Louis while Houston, Santa Fe, and St. Petersburg held parades on Saturday.

Here are 30 photos from 10 Pride events that happened around the country this weekend to prove that love will always trump hate.
