What Song's In The 'Bridget Jones's Baby' Trailer?

by Emily Lackey

I don’t know how movie trailer editors do it, but they always seem to pick the most perfect songs to go along with the movie they’re previewing. It’s no different in the new Bridget Jones's Baby trailer: The song is absolutely perfect for the film. For a movie that’s all about taking the next step as an adult, having a baby, and (hopefully) figuring out who the father of that baby is, a song about being ready to move forward is the perfect background music to include — which is exactly what was chosen.

While the Bridget Jones's Baby trailers that have come out so far have been hilarious, this one is definitely more emotional. And that might be in large part because of the song playing as the various scenes from the movie appear on our screens. As Bridget wrestles with old loves and new loves (and the inevitable OB/GYN appointments in the process), her struggle to make the next move in her life is highlighted perfectly by the track.

So, what is the song in the Bridget Jones Baby trailer? It’s one that you won’t be able to get out of your head for a while after hearing it. The song is “Holy My Hand” by Jess Glynne, and with lyrics like “I’m ready for this/ There’s no denying,” it’s a perfect one for Bridget’s new life as a mother.

But in addition to the song being about being ready for the next step in life, it’s also largely about taking the next step in love. With lyrics like “I don’t wanna walk on my own anymore,” it reinforces a desire to find love and companionship once and for all. For Bridget, a similar desire seems to be a big part of this phase in her life. It makes this track choice pretty telling while regarding the decisions that Bridget will ultimately have to make in this movie.

Now excuse me while I go through myself a private dance party with this song on repeat.
