Gelato Flowers Exist, So Get Your Instagram Ready

When it comes to summer, one of my absolute favorite sweet treats is gelato. Creamy, decadent, and cold, it's better than ice cream, and therefore my personal favorite way to finish off an evening out in the summer heat. It's no surprise, then, that I'm wildly excited about the fact that gelato flowers exist in this world. Yes, you read that correctly: Various gelato shops around the world are scooping gelato in gorgeous flower designs that are almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

It's hard to predict what food innovations will actually go the distance become a full-fledged food craze, but I'm not surprised that the combination of a unique design, lovely colors, and delectable dessert have won the hearts of Instagrammers in particular. After all, everyone has to get their best #foodporn pictures on their feeds, am I right? But although I pretty much automatically think of Italy the moment I think "gelato," these gelato flower creations are actually cropping up all over the place. Right now, the one shop that's really taking social media by storm is located in Budapest, Hungary; called "Gelarto Rosa," its beautiful, rose-shaped desserts have even earned their own Instagram hashtag. And it's no wonder, because they are seriously stunning:

But if you, like me, are not lucky enough to be in Budapest right now, it's nice to know that you can seek out similarly lovely creations elsewhere. For example, Amorino is a gelato shop with locations all over the world, including a number in the United States.

Their gelatos look truly lovely, and were even featured on NY's Chowhound report a few years ago. Even cooler? The Chowhound shows you just exactly how Amorino creates their cold, creamy sculptures so you can attempt to do it yourself at home if you're feeling brave (though I'll personally stick to eating my gelato with a simple spoon, myself).

Drooling yet? No? Here, let me help with that:

I think it's safe to say that gelato flowers are going to be the dessert of the summer, both on social media and in real life. Get those Instagram filters ready — and your tastebuds, too!
