Aside from being known for his acting roles, Johnny Depp is recognizable for his ink. The 53-year-old has acquired plenty of body art over the years, and amidst all of the drama following his divorce from Amber Heard, Depp has changed his Heard tattoo, a piece of ink that certainly seemed to be connected to his ex. As E! News reported, the Pirates of the Caribbean star's knuckle tattoo, which read "SLIM" (a tribute to Heard, according to TMZ), has been changed to "SCUM." Depp also seems to have blackened out a tattoo on his bicep, which was a pin-up that resembled Heard.
According to TMZ, Depp got the "SLIM" ink following his wedding to Heard, since it was her nickname. To swap her nickname for the word "SCUM" would definitely be a low-blow, if it's true. No matter what's going on in the stars' personal lives, it's disappointing to think that Depp would potentially call Heard by this name in such a public, visible way. Of course, there's always a chance that the remark wasn't directed at Heard, but at the same time, the timing is questionable. It feels like too much of a coincidence, considering their current courtroom battles.
As a recap, Heard was granted a temporary restraining order against Depp back in May, alleging domestic violence as the reason. Depp has denied these claims through his lawyer Laura Wasser, who told People in a statement, "Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse." Most recently, Heard withdrew her request for spousal support and stated the request was being "used against me to distract and divert the public away from the very serious real issue of domestic violence."
Given their publicly rocky history, the report of Depp permanently inking his body with what could be an insult to his former partner is rather upsetting. Of course, no one knows what actually happened during Depp's relationship with Heard, aside from the couple themselves. But this new ink doesn't paint Depp in the most mature light. This is reminiscent of when the actor changed his "Winona Forever" tattoo, in honor of ex Winona Ryder, to "Wino Forever," but at least that time, the change created a light-hearted sentiment, not what potentially is a derogatory term for another person.
