Disney Shows You Should Share With Your Kids

by Emily Lackey

The way I remember it, childhood was all about having no responsibilities, having food cooked for you, and having all the time in the world to sit around and watch endless hours of TV. Namely, Disney Channel shows, because they defined every millennial's childhood. Nowadays, we can only get that if we set aside entire weekends to marathon shows and order takeout for 48 hours straight. Back then, of course days filled with television were totally the norm, and some of the best television shows were on the Disney Channel. Chances are, because of this, when you think about what you want to share with your own kids — current of future — for their childhood, you think of the things you loved as a kid. And, unsurprisingly, there are a lot of old Disney Channel shows you should share with your kids. Passing down your love of Recess is just as precious as passing down your love for your grandmother’s cherry cheesecake. These things were a fundamental part of your childhood, and they are definitely things worth introducing to future generations.

So, no matter what the occasion is for sharing these classic Disney Channel shows — whether it be life events that call for a little more explanation or just the sheer joy of seeing your kids watch a show in regular definition — these are the shows that you should definitely share with your kids. They’re totally classic, and your kids will likely love you for it.

1. Jessie

What child doesn’t need a show about a small-town girl who leaves everything behind to head to the big city? This fish-out-of-water story will help your kids through some of their toughest times.

2. That’s So Raven

Whether your kids are feeling powerful or powerless, this teen who can see into the future will definitely help.

3. Wizards Of Waverly Place

When your kids are finished reading all of the Harry Potter books, this show should take their place just fine.

4. Lizzie McGuire

What kid doesn’t feel like they have an alter ego lurking inside of them?

5. Good Luck Charlie

When your family starts to grow, turning to this TV show about a family who is gifted with a brand new sibling could be helpful. Especially since this baby wreaks havoc on this otherwise together family.

6. Kim Possible

To bring out your kids’ own super powers, turn to Kim Possible, who saves the world from evil on the regular.

7. Hannah Montana

Because this story about a typical high school student who leads a double life as a famous pop star is just totally classic.

8. Phil Of The Future

The fun thing about passing this show on to future generations is how much closer they’ll be to the year 2121, the year the Diffy family originally came from.

9. Jonas

Because these brothers deserve to be made immortal through this short-lived show.

10. Adventures In Wonderland

This show is my personal favorite, because it's about a girl name Alice who can easily travel between the real world and Wonderland — so fantastical, and so fun for kids.

11. The Mickey Mouse Club

It’s like a who’s who of American pop stars and celebrities. Share this with your kids for the education value alone.

12. Recess

Possibly the Disney Channel's most amazing animated series ever, this show about surviving the social dynamics of the school playground is a must for all children. Some things never change, and making it through recess is one of them.

13. Duck Tales

Because I don’t want to live in a world where future generations don’t know what this show is.

So let’s promise each other right now that we will share these shows with our own kids someday. The future generation needs us to pass on these amazing Disney Channel classics.
