The 'Ghostbusters' Soundtrack Is Out Of This World

Ray Parker Jr.'s 1984 song "Ghostbusters" was as iconic as the movie itself, so it's no surprise that there would be high expectations for the music of the 2016 reboot. That being the case, you might find yourself wondering what's on the new Ghostbusters soundtrack. The answer? Pretty much everything. For starters, Ghostbusters has not one but two soundtracks, one of which is the original motion picture score and the other of which is the official motion picture soundtrack. So whether you're in mood to hear the actual music from the movie or some standalone songs created to accompany the movie, Ghostbusters has you covered.

Now, you might be wondering who exactly was involved in the making of the Ghostbusters music. After all, such a gargantuan task wouldn't be left to lightweights. When it comes to the score, the man behind the curtain is Theodore Shapiro, a composer known for creating the scores of The Devil Wears Prada, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Trumbo, and many, many more. The score is made up of 21 distinct tracks, which reference the movie's story with titles such as "Subway Ghost Attack," "Battle of Times Square," and "NY Heart GB." If the names are any indication, the score will be as wild as the movie itself.

Now, when it comes to the Ghostbusters Original Motion Picture soundtrack, there are a wide array of artists who appear. Some created totally original songs for the album, while a few did modern-day renditions of the classic Ghostbusters theme song, and others still lent their pre-existing hits to the soundtrack. Here's what you can expect:

1. "Ghostbusters" – WALK THE MOON

2. "Saw It Coming" – G-Eazy X Jeremih

3. "Good Girls" – Elle King

4. "Girls Talk Boys" – 5 Seconds Of Summer

5. "wHo" – ZAYN

6. "Ghostbusters" – Pentatonix

7. "Ghoster" – Wolf Alice

8. "Ghostbusters (I’m Not Afraid)" – Fall Out Boy feat. Missy Elliott

9. "Get Ghost" – Mark Ronson, Passion Pit & A$AP Ferg

10. "Party Up (Up In Here)" – DMX

11. "Rhythm Of The Night" – DeBarge

12. "American Woman" – Muddy Magnolias

13. "Want Some More" – Beasts Of Mayhem

14. "Ghostbusters" – Ray Parker Jr.

Crazy good variety, amirite? What's more, 10 out of the 14 songs actually appear in the movie, and that's in addition to the 21 tracks that are a part of the score. So it would appear that Ghostbusters is about to be as music-packed as it is action-packed.

The tracks that don't appear in the movie are "wHo" by ZAYN, "Ghoster" by Wolf Alice, and both Pentatonix and Ray Parker Jr's versions of the theme song. But since the album drops July 15, you'll be able to listen to all of those songs outside of the film. Just don't blame me when you can't get the Ghostbusters theme out of your head.
