by Kristina DeGiovanni

As details surrounding the fatal police shootings of two black men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Tuesday and Falcon Heights, Minnesota, on Wednesday, respectively, continue to trickle in, outraged and saddened activists across the country are pressing for action in various ways. These two shootings contribute two more names to the growing list of black people killed by police fire, a tally which has reached 123 so far this year, according to the Washington Post. As of Thursday, a federal investigation into the death of Castile had been called for by Minnesota's governor, Mark Dayton. According to U.S. News and World Report, the Justice Department was "assessing the situation" after the governor made a phone call to the White House chief of staff. The Justice Department has already opened an investigation into the shooting of Sterling.

Ways to bring justice and aide to the loved ones of Sterling, Castile, and the others killed by police is in demand now more than ever, and signing a petition is one way to add your voice.
