Here's one of the many great things about The Bachelor franchise... even when one door closes, another one is bound to open up. So even though memorable Bachelorette contestants like Chad and Evan are no longer fighting for JoJo Fletcher's love, we'll still have an opportunity to see them up to their old antics on Bachelor in Paradise. But why stop there? Odds are that one of the many suitors from Season 12 will be chosen to become the next Bachelor — the only question is, who should it be? And while part of me can't believe I'm actually saying this, I truly believe that Alex should be considered to be the next Bachelor on the series.
Now, I know what some of you are probably thinking right now: "But Kelly, Alex is still on The Bachelorette, so there's a chance he'll be the one to end up with JoJo." And to that I say, I think we all know that this is not how this season is going to play out. Sure, JoJo kept Alex around for another week, but that's only because she couldn't decide between him and James Taylor, which means she really doesn't know how she feels about him yet — a clearly bad sign for this late in the game. So yeah, I highly doubt he'll be sticking around for another week and if that's the case, then I think Alex should honestly be considered for Bachelor duty when the time comes. Here's why...
It Would Help Redeem His Image
I've never been the biggest Alex supporter, especially since he seems to have replaced Chad as the new Bachelorette villain in many ways. But becoming the new Bachelor would give him a chance to change all of that and start over by letting viewers see what he can be like when he's on the other side of the rose ceremony.
He's A U.S. Marine
Despite all the drama that's been centered around him, being a marine is a very admirable quality and one that could really get explored further if he was the new Bachelor. Plus, maybe we'd even get to see him dressed up in his uniform. Just saying!
He Can Prove Height Is Just A Number
Alex received a lot of jabs about his height, especially from Chad, this season, so to see him be the one all the ladies are swooning over on The Bachelor would be a great way to silence all the haters out there and prove that height is nothing but an insignificant number.
He's Very Attractive
I may have some reservations about the guy, but there's no denying that he's easy on the eyes. I'm sure all 26 female contestants would feel the exact same way.
Who knows when ABC will make their decision on who should be the new Bachelor, but when they do, let's hope they seriously consider Alex. He may not be a fan favorite right now, but there's something about him that shows he has definite Bachelor potential and deserves a chance to shine.
