11 Awesome Things We Wore In The Early 2000s

Since the '90s are getting all the hype in the fashion world lately, I thought it would be fun to revisit a more recent decade and remind you of all of the awesome things we wore in the early 2000s. Some of which, by the way, are also very in right now.

Sure, we can't get enough of Britney Spears-style crop tops, but what about beaded chokers and corset esque blouses? If you ask me, those deserve a little love right now, too. And how about that old "cowgirl" shirt from high school? Chances are you've pulled that out a few times this year, too!

So, because these trends are awesome, I'm going to take you for a quick stroll down memory lane as we reminisce together on those awkward middle school and high school years. If it was elementary school for you, don't tell me! That would make me officially old. Without further adieu, here are the best items of the early 2000s!

1. Peasant Tops

Remember these? Chances are, you probably wore one on a date in the early 2000s. I bet you even own one again now. Hippie is back, ladies! Don't remember how big they were? This photo is straight off the runway from at a Morgan fashion show in 2005.

2. Beaded Everything

Bags, chokers, bracelets, headbands... you name it, it was beaded! Recently, this trend is making a comeback, particularly at stores like Free People, where plenty of beaded chokers are on sale. In this photo, Hillary Duff sports a beaded bag.

3. Bangles

Aside from the fact that they were probably awkwardly too big for your wrist or always clinking around, they were fun while they lasted.

4. Mini Skirts

From cut-off denim skirts to those pleated minis, we wore teensy versions of everything. And if you didn't wear it with boots, you weren't doing it right!

5. Fishnet Stockings

All the real fashionistas wore these! Amerie certainly makes a strong case for this style.

6. Off-The-Shoulder Styles

Remember when Regina George got hit by that bus? At least she was wearing a cute top!

7. All Kinds Of Halter Tops

High neck, low neck, beaded, plain... you probably had one or two of these.

8. Message Pants

Remember when every pair of Soffe shorts you owned had a message on the butt? Or better yet, when your friend made custom ones for her Sweet 16?

9. Super Low Rise Jeans

Like, the kind of low rise that meant you needed to have a strategy in order to comfortably bend down.

10. Shrugs

Definitely handy! Why is it so hard to find things that keep you warm while you're wearing a fancy dress these days?

11. Corset Tops

Come on, you know you still pull this baby out once in a while! And even if you don't, Eva Longoria will probably make you pull your corset tops out of the style archives.

12. Von Dutch Hats

Come on... admit it! You probably collected these. Mine was pink, for the record.

13. The Tunic Over Jeans Look

Tunic-style shirts were everywhere during this era, and with good reason.

14. The Plain Black Choker

This is another trend that is coming back lately. If you don't still have yours, snatch one up, 'cause these are selling like hot cakes!
