Audrey Pence Has Global Experience Already

by Charlie Beckerman

Update: On Friday via one simple tweet, Donald Trump confirmed Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is his vice presidential running mate.

Earlier: In the increasingly interesting story of the Donald Trump campaign, the real estate mogul has, according to a number of reports, selected Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate. Pence, a “Christian, conservative, and a Republican, in that order,” as he has described himself, represents a tack to the right for the Trump campaign. But Pence’s youngest child, daughter Audrey, describes herself as socially liberal and politically independent. With the prospect of her her dad entering the gauntlet of presidential politics and, with it, the potential for some extra scrutiny from the right, Audrey Pence is getting some extra attention. Bustle has reached out to Audrey Pence for comment.

Pence is a rising senior at Northeastern University in Boston, majoring in international affairs at the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. In 2015, she traveled to Turkey with the Fuller Project for International Reporting. Working alongside CNN reporter Christina Asquith, Pence reported on local attitudes towards the Armenian Genocide. Pence has also written for Solutions, which describes itself as a "non-profit print and online publication devoted to showcasing bold and innovative ideas for solving the world's integrated ecological, social, and economic problems." In her biography on Solution's website, it says that “she hopes to pursue a career that will keep her engaged in foreign affairs through a form of journalism.”

If her father is announced Friday as Trump's running mate, Audrey Pence will likely face a media storm. Perhaps her international reporting experience will help her navigate the upcoming media blitz that may be heading her way.
