Louis Vuitton Draws Some Surprise Faces in Paris

The weeks-long circus known as Fall 2014 Fashion Month is finally coming to a close, with Parisian-based designers packing up their wares, rolling up their red carpets, and (at least at Chanel) clearing out their supermarket shelves until September rolls around, when they get to do it all over again. The stars, too, are heading back to New York, Hollywood, London, and more to return to their oh-so-glamorous lives — but not before a few of them surprised us by appearing at Wednesday morning’s Louis Vuitton show.

While we may have gotten accustomed to seeing celebrities like Rihanna, Jessica Alba, Emma Roberts, and Olivia Palermo gracing the Paris front rows day in and day out, there were a few unexpected A-list appearances — from stars like Kate Mara, Chloë Sevigny, and the Princess of Monaco herself — that finished off the last big show of the season with a major bang.

Making her first Fashion Week appearance of the Fall 2014 season, Mara showed up to the Louis Vuitton show alongside boyfriend Max Minghella wearing a monochromatic, distressed denim dress-and-jacket combo, which she completed with a simple green clutch, snakeskin pumps, a tousled bob, and natural makeup.

Sevigny also made her Fashion Week debut, opting for a printed and belted coat, platform lace-up booties, and a casual leather bag for an outfit that captured her always-chic and sometimes-quirky sense of style.

Sitting alongside the two blondes was up-and-coming French actress Adele Exarchopoulos, who dove into the spotlight after her role in a film that was an instant Cannes obsession, Blue is the Warmest Color. Exarchopoulous took in the Louis Vuitton collection while wearing a simple red-and-navy dress, fabulous fur coat, and basic black pumps.

But it was the appearance of Princess Charlene of Monaco that was the real royal surprise at the fashion show. Supporting Louis Vuitton’s new artistic director, Nicolas Ghesquière, the princess looked positively Parisian chic in her head-to-toe black ensemble, complete with leather pants, black pumps, the most perfect belted coat we’ve ever seen, and a coiffe that would make even Jennifer Lawrence drool with envy.

Considering that the princess usually makes appearances in stuffy two-piece combos and toned-down gowns, we couldn’t have been more excited to see a glimpse of her true (and quite a bit edgier) fashion sense. This — combined with Kate Middleton’s recent leather-jacket-wearing, bar-hopping rendezvous with Prince William — has us thinking that royal families around the world may be a little more daring and fashion-forward than they’ve let on.
