Song To Listen To If You Are A 'GoT' Fan

by Alaina Urquhart-White

Well, that familiar feeling has washed over us as Game of Thrones fans. Oh, you know the feeling, the one where you have suddenly realized that this season is officially over and we have to wait upwards of a year for any new episodes. If I had to describe it, I would say it's kind of like a perfect storm of sadness mixed with a little bit of emptiness. With news recently coming out that Season 7 will have a delayed premiere date due to weather, this has been one of the longest offseasons yet and we are only a couple of weeks into it. If you are like me, then you are officially looking for ways to pass the time. What better way to keep yourself in the Game of Thrones mood than some music?

My song suggestions are meant to keep you in a Westerosi state of mind, so to speak. Nobody wants to leave our beloved characters for another year, but at least these tunes might make their absence easier to take. So, pop in your earbuds and together we can all sing our way to Season 7.

1. "We're All In This Together" — High School Musical

I'm sorry, I had to do it.

2. "Rains Of Castamere" — The National

This is the amazing version that they played while the credits rolled after The Red Wedding. Sure, it brings back memories that fans have probably all tried to forget, but what better time to dive back into that particular emotional train wreck than now? Let's all feel emotions together.

3. "The Dornishman's Wife" — Karliene

Remember when Bronn was singing while he was imprisoned with the sand snakes? Wasn't it a super catchy tune? Well, if you've ever wondered what the rest of the song sounds like, YouTube artist Karliene performs a seriously badass cover that will be stuck in your head for days.

4. "Light Of The Seven" — Ramin Djawadi

Oh yeah, this is that song. I'm pretty sure Game of Thrones fans everywhere were scrambling to find the song as soon as it played during the Season 6 finale. It honestly a phenomenal track, and it lends itself really well to being your personal soundtrack to just about anything.

5. "The King And All Of His Men" — Wolfgang

Because it's one of my favorites and, Kings are dropping like flies up in Westeros, am I right? #Ladies.

6. "Hear Me Roar" — Ramin Djawadi

This is the song that played during Cersei's coronation at the end of Season 6. You want to feel like an evil super villain while walking your dog down the street? Fast-forward to about 1:20 and strut like you just found the cache of wildfire.

7. "Castle" — Halsey

Bringing you back to the land of castles and queens. This is a super epic tune and kind of reminds me of Cersei whenever I hear it. Long may she reign.

8. "Nothing Compares To You" — Sinead O'Connor

It's been longer than seven hours and fifteen days since Game of Thrones took it's love away, but isn't this the perfect musical translation for how we all feel right now? Sure, there are other shows... but nothing compares. Hurry up summer 2017!
