7 Feminist YouTube Vloggers You'll Love

When you think of the beauty industry and makeup products, do you think of feminism? Probably not, but I'm here to say that the two things are definitely not mutually exclusive. Here's seven feminist beauty vloggers to check out and get your girl power on.

Before I discovered the YouTube beauty and makeup vlogger game, I never considered how makeup could be feminist. In fact, I thought it was the opposite: an outdated, sexist ritual demanded of women by men and the media. But the female (and male) voices of YouTube totally changed that for me. I came to see makeup as a personal decision, a way to play and be creative, and an artful expression of myself and others. You can do makeup for your self and for no one else, and whether you decide to double stack false lashes or wear a fresh face, the most important thing is to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin and your choices.

Whether they're teaching me how to be confident with a killer contour or comfortable in my bare skin, YouTuber beauty and makeup vloggers are full of wisdom, empowerment, and just plain fun. While they're often sharing makeup tips, they also talk about coping with hard issues like loss, anxiety, divorce, self-image, bullying, and depression.

1. Jaclyn Hill

Hill is a longtime YouTuber, former MAC employee, and the brains behind some of the makeup game's cult favorite products. Beyond beauty, she encourages her subscribers to love themselves and often talks about dealing with depression, abusive relationships, and her values as a business owner. She's truly a role model for young women and an inspiration.

2. Bunny Meyer

Also known as the Grav3yardgirl, Bunny is one of the highest paid YouTubers on the 'net. She embraces dressing up and being yourself, and rejecting beauty standards that don't align with who you are.

3. NikkieTutorials

Nikkie put the smackdown on haters who call out other's for their personal beauty choices. What a boss.

4. Jeffree Star

Jeffree Star has to be one of my favorite YouTubers because he truly includes everyone in his products. He works to showcase how his products look on all skintones — something big brands often ignore — and advocates for all gender expressions to embrace wearing makeup.

5. Akilah Hughes

This up-and-coming YouTuber mixes makeup and beauty topics with social commentary on her channel, and it's awesome. She tackles serious issues like intersectionality and not-so-serious things like iced coffee vs. hot coffee. You'll learn a lot and laugh along the way.

6. Megan MacKay

She's only 18 but absolutely boss when it comes to covering tough topics with tongue-in-cheek-humor.

7. Tyrannosaruslexxx

A couple times a week, this awesome lady is talking about anything from vegan skincare routines and fashion week to human rights and recognizing consent. It's an all-around informative and entertaining channel that tackles important stuff.
