Producers Eyeing A-List Stars for 'Sharknado' Sequel

by Lindsay Mannering

There's good news and there's bad news. The bad news is, Syfy is making a Sharknado sequel. The good news is, Syfy is making a Sharknado sequel. After the channel got over 1.4 million viewers to tune in Thursday and watch washed-up Tara Reid and Ian Ziering battle a swirling cloud of sharks, they're ready to take this shit to the next level. And not only is there talk of a sequel, but the creators are eyeing World War Z and Lost writer Damon Lindelof to pen the script; they're even thinking about getting Johnny Depp to star. Johnny. Depp.

Sounds like someone's getting a bit big for their britches.

The casting conversation at this point is mostly, we assume, tongue-in-cheek, but it's very likely that the sequel will happen. Nothing's been confirmed, but we can only imagine the amazing brainstorming sessions that are happening right now in the Syfy offices.

It'd only be prudent for the network to capitalize on their ironic success, and Sharknado: Into Darkness, or Sharknado Versus Mega Cloud of Adorable Kittens, or Sharknado Versus Poison Ivy Hurricane, or Sharknado 2: You're Not Going to Eat That, Are You?, would likely be another huge success.

Relatively speaking, of course.
