The Best Edible Invention Since The Cronut

There are a lot of reasons I wish I was at SXSW in Austin right now, and I’m not ashamed to admit that these chocolate chip cookie milk shots from Dominique Ansel Bakery are one of them.

If the name “Dominique Ansel” sounds familiar, it’s probably because he’s the creator of the much-lauded cronut. Ansel and his New York-based bakery have brought the cronut to SXSW, too — how could they not? — but this new invention is limited edition, which means that, alas, only SXSW goers will be able to experience it.

And how amazing does this sound? Making it involves baking extra-aerated cookie dough on a cylindrical mold. The result is a shot glass made out of cookie that’s (so I hear, at least) crispy on the outside and delightfully gooey on the inside. Once it’s cooled to room temperature, it’s filled with ice-cold organic milk. I assume you’re meant to throw back the milk, then follow it up with a hearty bite of cookie — although if I had one in my hot little hands, it’s likely that I’d just jam the whole thing in my mouth in one go and hope for the best.

This wonderful-sounding confection will only be available at the late-night “Cronut at Midnight” SXSW event run by global communications firm Allison+Partners, so if you want one, make sure to put Sunday, March 9 on your calendar. Because yum.
