If Degrassi: Next Class on Netflix made you nostalgic for the original cast, don't worry. For the show's 500th episode, they're bringing back characters from various seasons in what is sure to be a dramatic reunion. But, will Cassie Steele, aka Manny, be in the Degrassi reunion?
While the official trailer for the 500th Degrassi episode (which is obviously titled #ThrowbackThursday) shows throwback favorites like Paige, Marco, Craig, Emma, Liberty, Spinner, Holly J, Sav, and Peter... what about Manny? What about Alex? What about Sean? I could do this all day. The Degrassi Community School class of 2006 and 2007 holds a special place in my heart, forever.
Steele doesn't appear in the trailer for the reunion or in any of the promotional photos. But, like, how can you have Emma without Manny? Not to mention Liberty and Spinner. I need to know whether or not Manny got that Academy Award she wanted. Is her character too famous to attend her own High School reunion?
In real life, the actor starred in a TV movie Twist of Fate, and lent her voice to a few episodes of Rick and Morty, so it's possible that she was not able to make the reunion episode for scheduling reasons. However, this very recent Instagram not only proves that Steele and Miriam McDonald are still BFF, but it might mean that Manny is part of the reunion after all. Curiouser and curiouser!
That makes me think that she's totally in for the "ultimate" reunion. We haven't seen Stacey Farber in any of the promos either, and I think Ellie is also likely to turn up since basically her whole squad is in the trailer. Then again, I'm not sure my heart can handle Craig/Ellie or Craig/Manny feelings at this moment — so if they are both missing from the Degrassi maybe that's for the best.
