Imogen Poots Has Stolen Our Hearts

by Mary Avant

In the wild and crazy land of style-obsessed, fame-frenzied Hollywood, it’s almost dizzying to think of how quickly a new star can rise up and capture our attention or fall from the public’s graces in the blink of an eye. Just look at the meteoric rise of stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Lupita Nyong’o or the demise of Amanda Bynes as a few of the best and most recent examples. So we shouldn’t be surprised that, without us hardly noticing, there’s a new woman on the scene who’s getting quite a lot of attention lately: Imogen Poots.

Without us even realizing that we were already falling head-over-heels for her girly, romantic style, the That Awkward Moment actress — and the new star of Need For Speed , in which she shares the screen with Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul — has become one of those stars we seek out on the red carpet and turn to for a flawless, fashionable look again and again. And her latest red-carpet appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of Need For Speed simply reinforced the fact that this is a starlet who’s bound to fit right in with the Hollywood style set in no time.

In a light gray, chiffon-and-silk Nina Ricci gown and simple, strappy Givenchy heels, Poots looked like a veritable dream on the red carpet, working her ultra-romantic dress with the confidence of a seasoned starlet. Completing her look with a soft crown braid, smokey eye, and nude lips, she was a breath of much-needed femininity on a red carpet full of (very sexy) leading men.

Our style crush on the English actress first developed while she was making her red-carpet rounds for That Awkward Moment, in which she shared the spotlight — yet still shone — with hunky co-stars Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan. Whether it was a super-low-cut LBD by Stella McCartney or a quirky mesh number from Louis Vuitton, the rising star proved that she could seamlessly combine her penchant for feminine styles with a truly daring style aesthetic.

We fell more in love than ever during her recent run promoting her new film A Long Way Down, for which she wore stunning ensembles like this ultra-daring lace Marc Jacobs gown and a pleated gunmetal number from Proenza Schouler. And with what’s sure to be a lot of red-carpet appearances for Need For Speed, we can hardly wait to see what Poots pulls out of her fashion bag of tricks next.
