Some Of The Best DNC Backstage Shots

by Erin Corbett

The Democratic National Convention is officially over, and the party finally announced Hillary Clinton as their nominee during Tuesday night's roll call. Clinton accepted the nomination with a speech on Thursday night, along with an introduction from her daughter, Chelsea, and a performance by Katy Perry. There were a lot of lawmakers, politicians, and celebrities who came out over the course of the convention in support of their candidate and they offered some insight into why they supported Clinton. Here are some of Instagram's best exclusive backstage shots from the DNC.

Some stars who came out in support of Clinton include Girls actress and writer Lena Dunham, who has been a longtime supporter of Clinton and spoke at the convention. Chloë Grace Moretz, who has done some campaigning for the Democratic nominee this campaign cycle, also spoke at the convention. She called on young Americans to register to vote this fall, noting that "nearly four out of five young people stayed home in the 2014 Congressional election."

Other people that you may have seen on the stage (or simply attending the convention) took some time to express their interest in Clinton and her policy platforms backstage, including Eva Longoria, Elizabeth Banks, and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, who also ran for the 2016 Democratic nomination.

Eva Longoria

Actress Eva Longoria had a clear message for Trump's xenophobic and anti-immigrant sentiments. Her message to the GOP candidate from backstage at the DNC was, "When Donald Trump calls us criminals and rapists, he's insulting American families. My father is not a criminal or rapist. In fact, he's a United States veteran."

Neera Tanden

Tanden is the president of the Center for American Progress and the Dem Convention caught her backstage where she offered her insights on Clinton and how the nominee will help Americans. Tanden said, "For Hillary, politics is about fighting for people... not when the cameras are on, but when they're off."

Jason Winston George

The Dem Convention also caught a moment with Grey's Anatomy actor Jason Winston George. He has supported the Clinton campaign over the last year, and told Us Weekly, "The real reason I started supporting Hillary is that nobody had to prompt her to speak out on the issues that disproportionately affect people of color."

Congresswoman Maxine Waters

California Congresswoman Maxine Waters posed for the camera as well. As a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, the representatives took the stage at the convention and made a call to "band together and work together."

Rev. Leah Daughtry

Rev. Leah Daughtry had her photo taken backstage as well and had some important words to share about the importance of being inclusive. Daughtry said, "When Democrats say 'We the People,' we actually mean 'ALL the People!'"
