There's Good & Bad News For 'Girl Meets World'

by Emily Lackey

Don’t worry, Girl Meets World fans. Even though there were rumors that your favorite revival show might be going off the air after some incriminating tweets came out, there’s good news on the horizon: Girl Meets World will be airing episodes through 2017. Do you hear that sound? That’s the sound of fans everywhere breathing a collective sigh of relief at the news that this Disney Channel sitcom will be airing through the next calendar year.

The doubt started creeping in on Wednesday when Rowan Blanchard tweeted that she knew as much about whether there would be more episodes as the rest of the world did. She mentioned that filming the season finale was emotional for everyone and she took the time to thank the fans of the show for something she would “truly never forget." Sounds like a goodbye tweet me, don’t you think?

The speculation around the shows rumored ending spiraled out of control then when Uriah Shelton posted a cast picture to Instagram with a similarly cryptic message. In the caption, Shelton wrote, “Thanks guys. I'm going to miss you. It makes me incredibly proud to have been a part of something so special to so many people.”

Um, yeah. I don’t blame fans for worrying that the show wouldn’t be around much longer with social media posts like that. But the good news now is that the show will definitely be sticking around through 2017. But that doesn’t mean that more episodes will be made. Apparently the cast does have some cause for concern. After wrapping up Season 3 of Girl Meets World, the show has yet to be renewed for a fourth season. The episodes that they finished filming this week are the ones that will be airing through 2017.

So even though it’s not all rainbows and sunshine for Girl Meets World fans, that means there is a whole other calendar year to petition for more episodes of your favorite show. Time to storm social media and make it happen.
