How To Evolve An Evee

by Dasha Fayvinova

With each and every passing day, an expert of the hugely popular "Pokemon Go" app informs the masses of an amazing hack or trick available within the game. It's just not enough to play the game anymore — now you need to be ultra skilled and grasp the knowledge of how to evolve an Eevee into your preferred mutation. In case you are rereading that last line due to disbelief, I am here to confirm that there is in fact a way to influence your Eevee to evolve into a specific form. It's no longer up to the Pokemon Gods to decide. You decide.

If you are new to the Pokemon Universe, here is all you need to know about Eevee — arguably the most sought after and cutest Pokemon. According to the official Pokemon website, Eevees are a normal type Pokemon that have an unusual genetic makeup causing them to mutate into a variety of Pokemon types. Depending on their location or specific outside influences Eevees can evolve into Vaporeon (water), Jolteon (electric), and Flareon (fire), the three that are available in "Pokemon Go". In other games, Eevees can evolve into Espeon (psychic), Umbreon (dark), Leafeon (grass), Glaceon (ice), and Sylveon (fairy). That's a whole lot of options for just one Pokemon. Eevee's evolution was thought to be up to fate within "Pokemon Go" until someone figured out a hack! Now you can harness the power of the internet and get the type of Pokemon you want.

Quick warning: unfortunately this hack seems to only work once within "Pokemon Go". Also, you will only have a choice of three evolution types — fire, water, and electric. Since the game is only dealing with the first generation of Pokemon, it makes sense that those would be the only types available. The video below is of a "Pokemon Go" player using the hack to evolve three different Eevee types.

The hack is pretty simple. Once you have enough Eevee candies as well as Eevee Pokemon you are ready for evolution. Make sure you have a Lucky Egg going while you do this, because you'll be gaining a ton of experience points.

All you will need for the hack to work is the ability to change your Eevee's name. That's it! Change Eevee's name to one of the following to get a specific eevolution — “Sparky,” “Rainer,” and “Pyro”. Sparky will get you a Jolteon, Rainer turns Eevee into a Vaporeon and Pyro will evolve into a Flareon. Pretty sick, am I right?

This hack takes all the guessing out of your eev-olutions and allows you to get the Pokemon that best fits your team. While how many times this will work within the game is still up for debate, the fact that this is an awesome trick to know will never be disputed. Good luck and happy catching!
