These Are The Hardest Pokemon To Evolve

by Dasha Fayvinova

In the quest for being the greatest Pokemon Trainer in the world, you might have come across a few difficult to deal with Pokemon. Whether they are the hardest Pokemon to catch or the hardest Pokemon to evolve, they will give you a run for your money. Luckily, the internet is full of tips and tricks to help you deal with any "Pokemon Go" setbacks — updates and hacks are being posted every single day. So if you come across one of these difficult to evolve Pokemon, you'll know what to do.

In order to evolve your Pokemon you need to have a specific number of candies. The number depends on the type of Pokemon you are trying to evolve inside of "Pokemon Go". The more rare the Pokemon, the more candies it takes to evolve them. There are five amounts of candies needed to complete an evolution: 12, 25, 50, 100, and 400. The more difficult to find Pokemon are in the 100 candies category. Most Pokemon fall under the 50 candies umbrella. There are a few who require only 12 candies and those are very useful for boosting your experience points and leveling up as a trainer. There is only one single entry under the 400 candies category — Magikarp.

That's right. Magikarp requires 400 candies to evolve into its next form: Gyarados. Not too shabby, not too shabby at all.

The three Pokemon that are the easiest to evolve are Pidgey, Weedle and Caterpie. Each of them only require 12 candies to their first evolutions. That means you can accumulate quite a few of them, use a Lucky Egg and double any experience points you get from evolving any of those three.

The list of the hardest to evolve is a bit longer: Ivysaur, Charmeleon, Wartortle, Nidorina, Nidorino, Gloom, Poliwhirl, Kadabra, Machoke, Weepinbell, Graveler, Haunter, and Dragonair. Not only are they harder to come by, but in order to get them to evolve you will need 100 candies of their earlier forms. If you are not lucky enough to live in an area full of them roaming around, you might not be able to evolve them.

Because of the amount of Weedles I have collected, I was able to level up very quickly within the game. I was level seven at the start of the night and ended up at ten by the end of it. Can't do that with Magikarp. But if you live near a water source that has plenty of Magikarp you might be better off evolving it into a monster of epic proportions (unless you're lucky enough to catch a Gyarados yourself!).
